Özlem Er Civelek

The artist was born in Mersin in 1983. In 1997, She started her double bass lessons with Zurab Tsitsuachvili at Bilkent Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, with a scholarship she won from Bilkent University.

In the master class (`IV Recontres Musicales Internationales de Graves`) organized by Mstislav Rostropovitch in France in 2003, she studied double bass with Prof. Thomas Martin. After her successful concerts here, she was invited to Spain (Tarragona) the following year, where she gave solo concerts. The institutions that give many scholarships and awards that support the artist in their own field are respectively; Leverhulme Trust, London Barbican award, The Linklaters Endowment Scholarship, Eczacıbaşı 'Young Talents' scholarship, Guildhall School of Music and Drama scholarship.

In 2005, she won a full scholarship from the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama and started her Master's Education with Thomas Martin. Meanwhile, she took part in solo, orchestra and chamber music projects in Turkey and abroad throughout her music life. In 2006, she passed the London Symphony Orchestra double bass tutti audition and involved in the LSO. She took part some double bass master classes of Tim Cobb, Giuseppe Ettore, Kevin Rundel, Charlie Haden, Paul Kimber, Volkan Orhon and Aykut Durşen.

In 2021, Prof. Dr. Burak Karaağaç's double bass class she was taking part in, she received her Proficiency in Art Diploma from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. Since 2008, Özlem Er Civelek has been the double bass player in Orchestra Academic Başkent. She continues to teach double bass in the String Instruments Main Art Department as an Assistant Professor at Başkent University State Conservatory.
